Narcissistic fathers often emotionally damage their children. They disregard boundaries, manipulate their children by withholding affection (until the children “perform”), and neglect to meet the needs of their children
They emphasize different things. Men are likely to emphasize intellect, power, aggression, money, or social status. Women are likely to emphasize body, looks, charm, sexuality, feminine “traits”, homemaking, or their children and childrearing.
A relationship with a narcissist begins well. They tend to be attractive, charismatic and appear to be really invested in meeting “the one.” A narcissist will often tell his new partner that he/she is “the man (or woman) of my dreams”
