Narcissists lie.
A lot.
But you know what? Sometimes they thrive on telling the truth with certain things.
These truths reveal the real motives, and what’s really going on in their minds.
The good news for you is that understanding these things is key to seeing through the manipulation.
In fact, I’d say these 12 things are so central to their identity that they won’t hide them, so once you know what they are, you’ll start cutting through the fakery fast.

I get it. Narcissists lie all the time, so anybody would assume they are never honest about certain things.
People always seem so shocked at this, but narcissists are actually very capable of being honest when they want to be.
Even Their Denial Can Boil Into Lies
I didn’t do that! How dare you accuse me!
I would never treat you like that!
You know full well these are all lies, but it’s the sheer defiance behind these lies that create such confusion in their victims!
Sometimes, it’s hard to know what is a lie, and what is the truth.
12 Things Narcissists Will NEVER Lie About
So let’s get right into it.
#1 Their Victories
If a narcissist can show off and flaunt their victories, they’re going to.
Now, it’s pretty common for this to happen at work, but it can really happen anywhere, and I will give you some examples.
- “I’m engaged! I took her to Paris and I proposed to her under the stars! The wedding will be in Barbados!”
- “I just got myself a brand new sports car. I cannot wait to take her for a spin this weekend!”
- “I got promoted! Of course, they picked the right person. Nobody else came close.”
- “Look at the house I’m buying. Over 6 acres, and has its own pool! Nothing but the best for me!”
With each of these examples comes the underlying phrase, “Look at me! Look how important I am! Aren’t I amazing? Tell me how gobsmacked you are!”
And yes, people will be. That’s exactly what the narcissist wants and why they will never lie about their victories.
It’s a chance to show off and remind everybody how much better they are than them…
…Yawn.
#2 What Impresses Them
Knowing what a narcissist is impressed by can be tiring. Namely, those things are usually really high-end material goods and almost never humanistic traits like kindness or compassion.
I mean, have you ever heard a narcissist say, “I love it when I see acts of kindness. This world needs more of that.”
No.
That’s because the only things they love are what you can buy.
They’ll be brutally honest – and the more something costs – the more impressed they will be.
#3 Any Plans They Have
Oh, you’d better strap in and listen up because the narcissist’s plans are going to be top news!
Vacations.
Plans to renovate.
Weight loss.
Joining the gym.
Buying property.
Wanting to start a business.
Doing a walk or run for charity.
It’ll be all they talk about; they will expect you to hang on to every word.
They won’t lie because they want everybody to follow them every step of the way through their journey.
You’ll get photos, texts, and even donation pages firing your way, and they will love knowing that they’re getting attention.
#4 Their Hate For Weakness
Narcissists are pretty sincere about hating weakness in others.
The really terrible part is that narcissists will create that weakness in their victims by making them feel or think they’re helpless.
Then they will mock them for being indecisive, weak, pathetic, or whatever else they can think of.
Narcissists will be quick to call out weakness and even quicker to cause it.
#5 How Much You Annoy Them
Oh, they love to make digs at you wherever they can. If you do so much as breathe incorrectly to them, they will call you out on it.
You’re this, you’re that, you’re too much of this, why do you insist on being so annoying…
Etc, etc.
If there is any chance to really express some of their hatred, they will jump at the chance and be brutally honest.
#6 Grudges
Narcissists never let go of grudges they have.
If somebody has wronged them in the past, that past will become an eternal present. They won’t let go, because ‘how dare somebody do that to them.’
Oh, and they will be open about it alright. Anything to make them look like they’ve been wronged!
#7 How Competitive They Are
Narcissists love coming first at everything. They want to outshine everybody, win, and see the faces of those who lose—they want it all.
To them, there really is no competition. They already feel leagues above – but they never lie about wanting that proven as often as possible!
#8 Their Status
Have you ever seen a narcissist downplay their job title, or how much they earn, or the latest gadget they bought?
If they have half a crowd, they will show off and act as though everybody should buy whatever they’re peacocking.
Look at me!
Look how important I am!
Yeah, yeah…
#9 Goals They Have
Prepare to be sucked into the goals of a narcissist, because they will expect you to show up for them.
Narcissists never lie about their goals. They will show everybody every step of the way until they reach them.
They can then show off and say, “See? Look how easy that was?” – to make you feel small, and for them to continue their entitled display.
#10 How Boring Some People Are To Them
Relishing the opportunity to bring down the character of somebody kind and caring, narcissists will be quick to tell the world how boring a person is.
Oh my God, I thought they would send me to sleep!
How boring are they?!
To them, they aren’t lying. In reality, I do need to say that calm, safe and secure people are often labeled as boring because they don’t present with the toxic drama and conflict that narcissists present with.
And nothing is boring about that!
#11 Their Appearance
Covering up all the rottenness that’s inside of them, narcissists will readily work on their appearance so they can receive those compliments they desperately need.
Love me.
Be distracted from the real me.
Look at how beautiful I am and how hard I work for it.
Boring, isn’t it? Yet there they are, openly flaunting what they think they have in all our faces.
#12 The Need For Attention
Love me!
Speak to me!
Pay me attention!
Narcissists make no secret about it, and they have no regrets either. Yes, they love to get what they feel everybody on the planet owes them.
They aren’t ashamed of that at all!
